We're excited to partner with Portland State University School of Music & Theater for our FREE Woodwind and Brass Workshops this year! The workshops take place in October at Jackson Middle School. These workshops are designed for students and their directors who have at least 1 year of experience on their instrument and wish to work with professionals in the community to improve their musicianship. Our workshops will be taught by faculty from Portland State University and our very own PYP Musical Director, David Hattner. Woodwind Workshop: - Wednesday, October 1st, 2025 from 6:30-8:15 PM David Hattner, clarinets (Musical Director of PYP) Beau Haygood, saxophones (U. of Portland) Zach Galatis, flutes (PSU, Oregon Symphony) Carin Miller, bassoons (Oregon Symphony) Harrison Linsey, oboes (Oregon Symphony) Brass Workshop: - Wednesday, October 15th, 2025 from 6:30-8:15 PM Li Kuang, trombones (PSU) Dave Bamonte, trumpet (PSU, Oregon Symphony) Larry Johnson, horns (ret. PYP, ret. Oregon Symphony) James Kuzmic, tuba & euphonium (Newport Symphony) Each workshop will conclude with snacks/refreshments and all participants are invited to stay for the remainder of our PYP rehearsal.
