Evelyn Curioso
Recording Secretary

Evelyn Curioso grew up in the Philippines. As a child, she played the
piano and briefly learned a native string instrument called bandurria,
which has some similarities to a mandolin. She obtained her degree
in BS Zoology from the University of the Philippines and her MD from
the University of the East. She moved to Philadelphia in 1996 to
continue her medical training in Neurology at Thomas Jefferson
University Hospital. While in Philadelphia she met her husband who is
an Ophthalmologist. They settled in Oregon in 2001. They have 2
children who are both cellists. Their son currently enjoys playing for the orchestra while
their daughter is an alumna. The family enjoys taking their golden retriever, Jack-jack, for
walks on the Oregon coast. Jack-jack is obsessed with chasing tennis balls, but will never dip
his paws in the cold water. He is also happily lulled when the kids practice their scales.
As a Neurologist, Evelyn is endlessly fascinated with how music rewires the brain and how it
can influence child development and creativity. She is a believer in the great impact and
contribution PYP can make to the education, growth and future of young Oregonians.
