Rhiannon Mayes

Rhiannon first came to PYP as a parent when her daughter joined in the 2020/2021 season. She then became a parent volunteer in the 2021/2022 season with her daughter and older son as musicians in the organization. In April of 2022 Rhiannon came on staff as the orchestra manager for Portland Youth Conservatory Orchestra and Portland Youth String Ensemble. She currently has all three of her children enrolled in the organization. Rhiannon worked previously as an orchestra manger for Seattle Youth Symphony Orchestra, a volunteer coordinator for Orquesta Northwest and a coordinator for World Youth Orchestra (based in Seattle). Rhiannon has a passion for music of the Americas and music accessibility for all. Rhiannon worked as a professional dancer and dance teacher for many years. Before having children, she worked in pharmacy. Rhiannon plays flute, cello and is learning viola. She also manages her family farm in rural Oregon. She enjoys gardening, cooking, painting, dancing, reading and spending time with her children and many pets.
