Season 100 Alumni Events
The Alumni Table in the Schnitzer lobby is always available during concerts for browsing and conversation to connect with other alumni and look at old photos and posters.
If you are interested in hosting a PYP Alumni event, please reach out to .(JavaScript must be enabled to view this email address) to coordinate.
Concurrently, and in perpetuity, we now have a timeline as the beginnings of a digital museum of PYP history, hosted by HistoryIT, and made possible by the generosity of the Leupold & Stevens Foundation. This infinitely expandable timeline can show more detail and provide links to more documents than can be displayed on gallery walls. Visit PYP’s incredible new resource for preserving our history and discover fascinating pictures and insights, including a love story from the earliest years of this orchestra.
See the Fall 2023 Alumni Newsletter for details about these and other events.
- March 1: Chamber music sight-reading with opportunities for playing together across the generations.
- March 2: A very special Philharmonic Orchestra concert with Imani Winds, performing Jeff Scott’s Paradise Valley Serenade, a concerto for five wind instruments, Jesse Montgomery’s Strum for string orchestra, and Amy Beach’s “Gaelic” Symphony.
- Possible Alumni gatherings on the East Coast during the Philharmonic Orchestra’s March 23-30, 2024 tour with Imani Winds to Bethesda, MD, New York City, and Worcester, MA. .(JavaScript must be enabled to view this email address) if you are interested in hosting or participating.
- Alumni gathering for the Season 100 Finale concert on May 31, 2024, in Portland. This concert will feature Thomas Lauderdale of Pink Martini, and Hunter Noak on piano, and will be conducted by David Hattner and Huw Edwards. Sadly, Mei-Ann Chen will be unable to join us that day due to her conducting schedule in Europe.
Will you plan to visit PYP this year? Consider scheduling your trip to hear our Fall concert on November 11 and see the exhibit, or come for the Alumni Orchestra on December 26 and see the exhibit then.
Our work never ends to reconnect with “lost” alumni. This season you can help PYP to reconnect with 100 alumni who will become Centennial Friends of PYP.
Make you gift today in memory or honor of a mentor, a great concert performance experience, a tour, a conductor, or whatever has stayed with you through the years. Then encourage your friends to join you.
Every donor of at least $100 will be recognized as a Centennial Friend and will receive a commemorative 100th anniversary pin. In addition, every new or increased gift of $100 or more will be matched with $100 from the Maybelle Clark Macdonald Fund, up to $25,000.
Your comments and stories are always welcome. YOU are the heart of this ongoing project to remember PJS and PYP’s first century. Please contact .(JavaScript must be enabled to view this email address), Alumni Relations Manager, to share your thoughts.
