Children’s Concerts in Season 103
Portland, OR—April 14, 2027—at the Arlene Shcnitzer Concert Hall
Hood River, OR—Date & Location TBA
A Portland Youth Philharmonic annual offering since 1937, our Children’s Concerts are free, educational performances aimed at students in grades 3-8 . Our Philharmonic (PYP) and Conservatory (PYCO) orchestras perform four concerts each year for over 6,000 school children.
In Season 103, we are taking our Children’s Concert to Hood River, OR! Columbia Gorge area schools that normally cannot take a fieldtrip to downtown Portland are encouraged to attend and take advantage of this opportunity. PYP will also return to the Arlene Schnitzer Concert Hall in downtown Portland to perform in April.

What to Expect
These 40-minute concerts introduce children to classical music in a concert hall setting, but in a more informal and accessible way than our evening concerts. They also include introductions to each instrument of the orchestra and explanations of how music creates different textures and effects.
A teacher’s booklet with information about concert etiquette, the program and suggested classroom discussion topics will be sent in advance of each concert.
Are you a teacher at a Title I or low-income school? We have bus subsidies to help cover the cost of transportation!
