Notes Newsletter Student Spotlight: Victoria Chung
Posted on November 7, 2024

Victoria Chung is a violinist in PYSE. This is her first year in PYSE! She is a third grader at the Oregon Episcopal School (OES) and studies with Hae-Jin Kim.
What is your favorite thing about the violin?
I love to listen to the strings as a beautiful sound rings out.
How was performing at the OES event on Oct. 17*? What did you play?
I was excited and grateful to play for my school and community. I played a concerto by Seitz.
*Victoria played with her older sister, Sophia, during OES Sunday on October 6 and was featured in an article.
What is it like to have an older sister that also plays the violin? Does she help you sometimes?
It is so much fun and satisfying, because we play duets, and she always helps me.
What is “Korean Storytime” at the Beaverton Main City Library? Why do you like to volunteer and play there?
It is an opportunity to learn the Korean language and culture by reading Korean books and singing Korean songs. I am pleased to be able to serve my community with what I truly love.
What do you want to do when you grow up?
Being a writer while also performing violin is my dream.
You can see Victoria perform with both PYCO and PYSE on November 17 at the Cadenza Series Fall Concert.
