MEET HANAMI FROOM, RUNNER-UP OF PYP’S 2017-18 CONCERTO COMPETITION

Hanami Froom is the runner up for the 2017-18 PYP Concerto Competition. She will perform the first movement of Felix Mendelssohn‘s Violin Concerto in E minor, Op. 64 with PYCO on Sunday, February 18, 2018, in Vancouver, WA’s Skyview Auditorium.

Hanami Froom is an eleven-year-old violinist. Hanami has been studying violin from the age of two, and is currently a student of Carol Sindell. This is Hanami’s fifth season in the Portland Youth Philharmonic (PYP). She is also a member of Camerata PYP and PYP quartet.

Hanami was the winner of the 2018 Oregon Music Teacher National Association Competition Junior Performance, the 2016 and 2018 MetroArts Young Artists Debut! Competition, and the 2015 Jewish Community Orchestra Young Artists Competition. Hanami was also a silver medalist of the Vancouver Symphony Orchestra Young Artists Competition in 2017.

Hanami loves singing, reading and writing. Hanami’s parents are Masami and Rob Froom.

    Would hanami consider putting up violin tutorials (on youtube) as I would love to learn classical music and think a tutor would be a great way to do so. I am only 14 and would class myself as a beginer.
