PORTLAND YOUTH PHILHARMONIC PRESENTS 58TH ANNUAL CONCERT-AT-CHRISTMAS, A PORTLAND TRADITION SINCE 1961

PORTLAND, OR – Since 1924, Portland Youth Philharmonic has been committed to inspiring young and young-at-heart audiences throughout Oregon and Southwest Washington, while also providing the highest quality music education possible. The orchestra’s long tradition of excellence in education and performance dates back to its first concert in 1925.
The day after Christmas, the orchestra and conductor David Hattner will present their 58th annual Concert-at-Christmas: Dance Party on Thursday, December 26, 2019, at 7:30 PM at the Arlene Schnitzer Concert Hall. The performance will include Aaron Copland’s Danzón Cubano, Georges Bizet’s Selections from “Carmen,” John Williams’s Yoda’s Theme from “The Empire Strikes Back,” and much more.
This fun-for-the-whole-family concert features performances by the Portland Youth Philharmonic, as well as PYP’s Wind Ensemble, Conservatory Orchestra, Young String Ensemble, and an Alumni Orchestra. The popular event showcases Portland Youth Philharmonic’s entire roster of nearly 300 musicians, as well as alumni spanning much of the organization’s 96-year history. Performers will range in age from 7 to 80.
