Portland Youth Philharmonic’s Young String Ensemble Brings ‘Family Concert’ to Vancouver, WA
Portland Youth Philharmonic’s youngest ensemble brings their popular family-friendly concerts for children 2 to 8 years old to Vancouver. PYP’s Young String Ensemble will present an interactive musical adventure for the whole family on Saturday, May 13, 2017 at 1:00 PM in the Firstenburg Community Center. The hour-long performance, sponsored by PDX Parent Magazine, will be conducted by Inés Voglar Belgique, the Oregon Symphony’s Assistant Principal Second Violin.
“These performances are super fun in a very casual and comfortable setting, where kids may be inspired by very dedicated young musicians performing a wide array of music,” shares Voglar Belgique, who has conducted YSE for the past two years.
Parents are invited to bring their little ones (recommended ages 2-8) to enjoy PYP’s Young String Ensemble. Families can arrive a half-hour before the performance to walk their children through PYP’s Instrument Petting Zoo, presented by Kennedy Violins. Here, children may try violins, cellos, and other instruments in the string family, while having the opportunity to meet and interact with older Portland Youth Philharmonic musicians.
Tickets start at just $5 for children and students (elementary – grad school). Adult tickets start at $8, and can be purchased at the door, by calling the PYP office at 503.223.5939 (Monday – Friday, 9:00 AM – 5:00 PM), or by clicking here.
